The Hungry Shark franchise has officially reached one billion downloads worldwide across all platforms, making it Ubisoft‘s most popular mobile franchise.
The Hungry Shark franchise shows great Sharks across the world’s oceans
The franchise, created by Ubisoft Future Games of London since the UK studio’s founding in 2009, depicts sharks in a feeding frenzy throughout the world’s oceans. With just a seven-person team, the initial Hungry Shark was released in 2010 on mobile platforms. It spawned two sequels before the release of Hungry Shark Evolution in 2012 (managed by Ubisoft Barcelona Mobile studio since 2019).
Hungry Shark Evolution, currently in its tenth year, has been downloaded over 630,000 times alone. All thanks to a switch to a freemium model that dramatically increased the player base. The studio was acquired by Ubisoft in 2013, and the wildly popular Hungry Shark World game was released in 2016.
Ubisoft held a Young Sharks event to advocate for the preservation of Sharks and the ocean ecosystem
The “Young Sharks Event“ in Hungry Shark World was held on November 8th. It invited players to save baby sharks and protect the ecosystems of the ocean. Together, Glowing Glowing Gone and Ubisoft Future Games of London are stepping up their advocacy for improved ocean conservation and the preservation and repair of coral reefs.
The central London-based Ubisoft Future Games studio creates a wide range of contemporary video games. The studio specializes in mobile games only. They design and produce a variety of games ranging from premium virtual reality experiences to free-to-play arcade games. According to Ubisoft FGOL, their games have instantaneous appeal, recognition, and understanding throughout the world.
