Tribo Games, a new Web3 game studio, has raised $1.16 million (€1.2 million) in the pre-seed round from Play Ventures, Sisu Game Ventures, and Joakim Achrén. The founding team of five members has over 60 years of combined experience in developing mobile games and includes gaming industry veterans such as Mika Kuusisto, who founded Kopla (Nonstop Knight 1 & 2), and Borja Guillan, who previously served as Design Director King (Knighthood).
Tribo Games aims to pioneer new gaming experiences unseen in Web2 or Web3 games
“For us, the web3 opportunity is less about the technology and more about new design possibilities and the general expectation that there is a better way,” writes Tribo CEO Mika Kuusisto. Players are already expecting more from their video games.”
Tribo Games will pioneer new gaming experiences by leveraging digital ownership and open economies. The games are being built from the ground up to support long-term, community-owned game worlds. The goal is to create something new that players haven’t seen in web2 or the first wave of web3 games.
“Over the next few years, gaming audiences will migrate to player-owned economies and new types of experiences built around them.” “We want to be the ones to lead this transition,” Kuusisto adds.
To commemorate the announcement, Tribo is launching a free NFT collection called Flameys to kick-start its core community. They are 2000 distinct avatars that provide the owners with benefits and VIP status in the Tribo community. Players can obtain the Flameys by visiting the official website of Tribo Games here.
