Smoking stairs on the map Mirage

Mirage is one of the most popular maps not only in matchmaking but on the professional scene. Certainly, there are lots of tactics and strategies on how to enter the plant and win a round properly. However, any tactic comes with skilled smoke usage, which cuts off certain parts of the map from an opponent.

In this guide, we will reveal one of the key smokes, which will help the attack players to enter plant A. In other words, we will tell you how to smoke stairs properly. Yes, this smoke throw is one of the easiest on the map but, after all, considering the experience received in matchmaking, not all players know how to smoke it in the right way.

First of all, we need to adjust our own server for smoke practicing. We do all the steps in the following order:

1. Host a map in the «practice with bots» mode and choose any side.
2. Launch the console and enter the following commands:

• bind “o” noclip (any key as desired)

After entering all commands, we can move to practice smoke throws.

How to smoke stairs on the map Mirage?

Buy a smoke grenade, wait for the end of freeze time, and run towards plant A.

Stop near the construction and jump on the first step. Then carefully stand on the ledge so as not to fall off the steps.

Target between the building’s ledge and a wooden beam. As a result, our aim has to be in the middle of the visible gap. Minimum deviations are not critical – a grenade will hit the stairs and close the enemy’s line of sight.

Throw a grenade by using LMB without a jump-throw.

The smoke grenade will hit the stairs, which will allow players from the palace to go to the plant.

Why is smoking stairs necessary?

Tactically, this grenade provides an opportunity to cut off only one small zone at plant A.

However, one of the players who will be coming from the connector after the teammates’ information will hold the stairs and be picking the players exiting the palace.

With this smoke, we will reduce the opponent’s visibility who, depending on the economy, may have a sniper rifle.

Also, smoking the stairs will cut off the player who will be looking at the exit from the palace, staying in the connector. This positioning is extremely popular among players, especially on FACEIT, because the attacking player who comes out sees only a small pixel of the enemy’s head, which may not be enough to react to the shot.

If we add a smoke grenade into the jungle / connector, we will cut off a significant part of the map and close the visibility of one or two players of the enemy team at the same time.
