PS Plus Free and Premium Games for October 2022 Wish List

[ad_1]

October is right around the corner, meaning fans of all thing spooky, creepy, scary, and Halloween-oriented are about to have a field day every day. Sometimes, companies will support these holidays, and that’s true of video game services like Xbox Games with Gold, Xbox Game Pass, and Epic Games Store. Typically, Sony doesn’t really do much in relation to holidays with PS Plus. For example, last October it offered Mortal Kombat X (but not with the horror character-based DLCs), a WW2 game, and a golf simulator.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Who knows, though, as that could and should change with the upcoming selection of games. Fans still have some time to claim the PS Plus free (Essential) games for September 2022, which include Need for Speed Heat, Granblue Fantasy Versus, and Toem, but Sony is also expected to reveal October’s offering on September 28. Previously, the free game reveal was distinct from the Extra and Premium game reveal, but Sony rolled them all up in one for September. So, it’s possible that fans learn about the whole kit and caboodle on September 28, or it could be separated again. All fans can do is wait and see how that shakes out, but in the meantime, here are some great things to see.

PS Plus Free (Essential) Games for October 2022 Wish List

Resident Evil 2 – For the PS Plus free games for October 2022, if Sony does decide to honor the Halloween spirit in some way, it had best go big with one of the most celebrated horror games of recent years. Resident Evil 2 solidified Capcom as one of the best developers of remakes, even if some weren’t exactly happy with RE3. Still, Resident Evil 4 Remake is on the horizon and fans are excited. Giving some users a little taste of RE2 while building hype for one of its most anticipated remakes yet, celebrating the spooky season all at the same time, would be a great move for PS Plus.

Disco Elysium – It can’t all be dark and spooky though, and another title that would do well on the PS Plus free service is Disco Elysium. It’s one of the most unique RPG games on the market, with it being celebrated and receiving multiple awards near everywhere. The emphasis on skill checks, dialogue trees, and exploration of the protagonist in innovative ways (perception, pain threshold, ideologies, personality traits that can be supported or suppressed) all make this a stand-out game. But, because it is an indie title, many may have slept on instead. Getting it to the forefront of PS Plus would bold well for the title.

Dark Souls – Games don’t have to be full-on survival horror to scare players, and the adrenaline pumping combat of the Souls genre can be enough to make hearts skip a beat. Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne are already available on PS Plus in some way, so giving fans one of the earliest titles would be a nice homeage to the attention the genre has seen this year.=

PS Plus Extra and Premium Games for October 2022 Wish List

It’s hard to guess if Sony will actually honor the holiday season by focusing on horror games, but if anything, the addition of PS Plus Extra and Premium makes this easier to accomplish. PS Plus itself has teased the addition of Dino Crisis in the past, but it hasn’t come to fruition. Releasing in October would be the best move it could make, and for that reason, Dino Crisis is #1 on this wish list. It’ll likely remain on many wish lists nonetheless, until it is eventually added. Some other games that could do well in the PS Plus Classics Catalog and/or embrace the season are as follows:

  • PS5: The Last of Us 2
  • PS4: The Evil Within
  • PS3: F.E.A.R., Braid
  • PSP: Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology, Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy
  • PS2: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, NBA Street Vol. 2
  • PS1: Parasite Eve, Parasite Eve 2

PS Plus subscribers get a handful of free and premium games every month.
