Persona in Dota 2: what are they and how to get exclusive skins

On September 1, 2022, Valve released a Battle Pass dedicated to The International 2022. Tons of content were added to the Battle Pass: there are chests with Immortal items (which turned out to be a third less than in previous years), two Arcana, the return of the legendary Diretide event, and more.

In addition to all of the above, two new Personalities have been added to the game. We decided to tell you about all the existing exclusive items of this type.

What are Personalities in Dota 2

Personalities, they are also persons – these are exclusive items for heroes that completely change the appearance and animations of the character. However, they are added not just for the sake of cosmetic modifications. Almost every personality has a backstory behind it, and directly refers us to the large-scale, albeit hidden lore of Dota 2.

When choosing an owner, Valve is guided by the popularity of the character, or the relevance of adding to the game, as in the case of 2 out of 5 currently available Personalities.

How to get a Personality in Dota 2

Personalities are exclusive items that are available to Battle Pass owners of different years. The only way to get a unique cosmetic item is to level up the Battle Pass.

All Personalities in Dota 2

Now there are 7 Personas in the game, 5 of them can already be seen in the collection. The remaining items will be added as rewards for leveling up the Battle Pass 2022

Acolyte of the Lost Arts for Invoker

The first Persona, Acolyte of the Lost Arts, was added to the Battle Pass at The International 2019, where it was at level 305. She completely modified the most famous magician – Invoker, making him a young schoolboy.

The personality sends us back to the time when Karl was a student of the school of magic, and even then he was famous for being one of the strongest magicians of that time. Once he stole a secret book of spells, thanks to which he got the opportunity to travel through time, and with it he went on a long adventure.

Now there are two more variations of this appearance.

Dark Artistry Throwback – where the young Invoker is dressed in the most expensive set of the original Dark Artistry character.

Heir of Menace – where Charles appears as an unknown monarch. Separately, I would like to note that this person is often attributed to the two-time champion of The International, and the midlaner of the OG team – Topson, because of the external similarity. But there is no official confirmation of this.

The second option can be purchased on the Steam marketplace. The total cost of a 5-piece set is ~$50.

The Disciple’s Path for Anti-Mage

The Disciple’s Path was added to the Battle Pass at The International 2020, where it was at level 305. She replaced the main fighter against sorcerers – Anti Mage, making him a new character, of the opposite sex.

According to the lore of the game, Anti Mage took the girl Wei as his student, and brought her to Tyler Manor (an order of fighters with magic). There, he trained his protégé in the art of killing mages, after which she set out on her final assignment, which would serve as her final exam, to see if she could survive in a cruel world filled with magic.

The Toy Butcher on Pudge

The Toy Butcher was in the same Battle Pass at TI 2020 and was given to players who leveled up the Compendium to 255.

Persona sends us to a parallel universe where the characters are presented as plush toys. There are horror stories among them, about a plush butcher who hides in the darkest corners of a toy box, and waits for his victims there. Pulling the unfortunate toy to him, he joyfully guts it, pulling out all the cotton stuffing.

Davion of Dragon Hold on Dragon Knight

Davion of Dragon Hold Persona was added to the Battle Pass at The International 2021, where she was at level 195.

The personality was transferred to the game straight from the famous anime – Dota Dragon`s Blood, produced in collaboration with Valve and Netflix. She brings the model from the anime into the game itself, making her softer compared to other characters, which stands out from the rest of the regulars in the Dota world.

Persona’s backstory is revealed in the first season of the anime, featuring several main characters, including Davion, a young knight of the Dragonpit who dedicated his life to protecting the people.

Mirana of Nightsilver on Mirana

Another persona in the same Battle Pass at TI 2021 was available to players after completing compendium level 135. Like the Personality on DC, the model was completely copied from the Dota 2 anime of the same name, changing not only the rider herself, but also her faithful pet Saigan.

Princess Mirana refused the possibility of succession to the throne, and swore an oath to the goddess Selemina. Now she goes on a long journey to protect the secrets of her Temple of the Moon.

Battle Pass 2022 Rewards: Personality on Crystal Maiden and Phantom Assassin

In the second part of the Battle Pass TI 2022, two exclusive items will be added – for Crystal Maiden and Phantom Assassin. There are already very rare Arcanas for characters, and the addition of two new personas feels a bit unfair to other characters.

Conduit of the Blueheart at Crystal Maiden

The persona on Crystal Maiden is the main mystery of the current Battle Pass. The illustration from Valve features Rylai herself, with a large snow wolf standing behind her. Whether the CM model will be replaced with a wolf form, or whether it will be a temporary effect from the ultimate, we will find out only after the release of the second part of the Compendium, on November 3rd.

Only the strongest of magicians are able to survive the lessons prepared for those who seek to know the hidden secrets of the Blue Heart. There can be only one mentor in this matter, a timeless entity whose first lesson shows that only the responsibility that comes with success grows.

From the description, it can be understood that Rylai seeks to learn the secrets of the Blue Heart, and enhance his witchcraft skills. As we know from the lore of the game, Jakiro taught her the art of ice, but apparently, the sorceress’s next teacher will be the mythical wolf Fenrir, closely related to Norse mythology, where Valve likes to draw inspiration from.

Exile Unveiled on Phantom Assassin

A person on Phantom Assassin will completely change her appearance, changing gender to the opposite, as was the case with Anti Mage.

The Veil Sisters have hunted him since he was born, but he no longer intends to hide. Look behind the veil of a mysterious personality who will risk everything to achieve his main goal – to strike at the ancient order of assassins, whose manipulations only bring the predicted hour of bloodshed closer.

According to the description, it is obvious that this will be a completely new character. This, as with the personality on Anti-Mage, gives Valve ample wiggle room to further develop new characters and expand the game’s universe.
