Overwatch League 2022 DPS Role Stars

The top four standout DPS players have been revealed for the Role Stars Overwatch League 2022.

The flashiest role in the Overwatch League has its new big four.

We see so many amazing DPS stars from year to year. Still, there are a few amazing players who wow us with their consistently flashy plays. They pop off from game to game, reminding us that they will show up every single time. We have two returning DPS Role Stars from 2021 in Kevster and LIP, while the absolute legend Profit and a future legend Proper join them in their glory.

2022 Role Star DPS

Kevster

The Los Angeles Gladiators have stood on shaky ground for two years now. From winning Stage Championships to losing in the early rounds of playoffs. Never once has anybody made the mistake of thinking that these inconsistencies come from Kevin “Kevster” Persson. He’s found success in his speciality heroes, and his team always enables him to lean on those picks whenever even slightly possible.

  • 4th in Final Blows per 10 minutes (9.4).
  • 2nd in Final Blow/Death Ratio (2.2).
  • T-5th in Eliminations per 10 minutes (19.3).
  • T-3rd in Solo Kills per 10 minutes (1.0).
  • 4th in First Elimination Rate (18.1%) as Genji.
  • 1st in Lowest First Death Rate (4.4%) as Tracer.

Most of his accolades this season aren’t simply attributed to his hero pool. His stats reflect his dominance over the entire DPS roster of the Overwatch League. Place top 4 in Final Blows, Final Blow/Death Ration, and Solo Kills makes it undeniable that he was one of the DPS to beat this year.

LIP

2022 Role Stars Lip

Joining Kevster in earning a second Role Star award in a row is 2021 Grand Finals MVP Jae-won “LIP” Lee. LIP was tasked with picking up the role of the newest DPS in Overwatch 2, Sojourn. Not only did he succeed in learning the character, but it will not forever be one he’s known for. He was an early adopter, maybe even creator, of the playstyle we so often seen Sojourn players use. To be a top team in the league for three years in a row requires players and staff that can stand the test of time. That is why LIP is a player that won’t be leaving the spotlight anytime soon.

  • 3rd in Hero Damage per 10 minutes (8,345).
  • 2nd in Solo Kills per 10 minutes (1.1).
  • 1st in First Elimination Rate (22.4%) as Sojourn.
  • 1st in Hero Damage per 10 minutes (8,466) as Sojourn.
  • 1st in Eliminations per 10 minutes (21.5) as Sojourn.
  • 1st in Hero Damage per 10 minutes as Solider: 76 (10,409).

While there are other players in the league that have caught our eye on the mechanically demanding Sojourn, none have the stats like LIP. He’s the best in every category, and you couldn’t have asked for any more out of him this season.

Profit

2022 Role Stars Profit

It’s been a long time coming for Junyoung “Profit” Park. He’s gone a full career without any awards since becoming the Grand Finals MVP in 2018. As an Overwatch League Champion and legendary player, many believe he should’ve taken the Role Star award for years now. All of that is in the past, though, and the world’s favourite Tracer/Genji specialist is a DPS Role Star. Rather than having the highest general DPS stats this season, Profit was an example of how an expert on certain heroes can make all the difference in gameplay and carry potential.

  • 2nd in First Elimination Rate (17.3%) as Tracer.
  • 4th in Teamfight Win Rate (49.8%) as Tracer.
  • 4th in Final Blows/10 minutes (8.4) as Tracer.
  • 3rd in Pulse Bomb Kills 10 minutes (1.9) as Tracer.
  • 1st in Dragonblade Kills per 10 minutes (3.5) as Genji.

When it comes to teamfight winners, ultimates, Profit has both high charge rates and effective usage of those ultimates. His Tracer is world renown, and this season he proved that he’s still one of the best there ever was.

Proper

2022 Role Stars Proper

To nobody’s surprise, Proper receives the Role Star award in his rookie year. His breakout has been the best we’ve ever seen. He took a legendary team to new heights with a new roster. From day one, he made himself known as the guy to watch in 2022. He had people singing his MVP praises in the first week of the league, and never once did it stop. His stats back up the fact that he was an unstoppable force who, combined with a team that enabled him, could take any player in the league on any hero.

  • 1st in Final Blows per 10 minutes (9.9).
  • 1st in Final Blow/Death Ratio (2.3).
  • T-5th in Eliminations per 10 minutes (19.3).
  • 5th in Hero Damage per 10 minutes (8,293).
  • 1st in Final Blows per 10 minutes (9.4) as Tracer.
  • 1st in Lowest First Death Rate (7.3%) as Genji.

Not only does he have statistics that people can use to argue him being the best player in the league, but he even has stats on individual heroes that tell us he’s a force to be reckoned with no matter what he plays. He can take other top DPS on every role and still outshine them at the end of the game.
