Overwatch Fan Has Drawn Zenyatta Every Day for Over 200 Days

One Overwatch fan has found a creative way to pass the time waiting for the release of Overwatch 2 by drawing one of the game’s heroes, the omnic monk Zenyatta, for over 200 days. The often-humorous daily drawings depict Zenyatta in a variety of different settings and scenarios, and give fans of the character something to look forward to while they count down the days until the release of Overwatch 2.

In Overwatch lore, Zenyatta is an artificially intelligent omnic robot who searches the world in search of spiritual enlightenment. The omnics were robots created by the game’s Omnica Corporation who eventually fought against humans in the Omnic Crisis, but are now relegated to second-class citizens. In gameplay terms, Zenyatta is a support character capable of healing teammates with his Orb of Harmony or dishing out destruction against opponents with the Orb of Discord in the team-based first-person shooter.

Reddit user ZenUntil5v5 began posting drawings of Zenyatta in February of 2022 and has continued posting a new drawing every day since then. ZenUntil5v5 has vowed to continue to post a new drawing each day until Overwatch 2 is released in early access on October 4th. The drawings show Zenyatta in a wide range of different scenarios, often parodying movies or TV shows including Bob’s Burgers, Avengers: Infinity War, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The creator even takes a few jabs at the gaming industry’s business practices, with one drawing from early September depicting Zenyatta sitting serenely holding a sign reading “Stop Stretching ‘Free To Play’”.

The Overwatch fan community has created some fantastic fan art ever since the game’s release, but these daily drawings show a level of dedication that few gamers could hope to match. Zenyatta and the rest of the roster from the original Overwatch will all be returning for the upcoming sequel, and will fight alongside or against brand-new Overwatch 2 characters like Kikiro and Junker Queen. Overwatch 2 is one of the most highly-anticipated gaming releases of 2022, and content creators recently got one last big look at Overwatch 2 before its upcoming release.

These Zenyatta drawings give a glimpse into just how excited many gamers are for the upcoming Overwatch 2. There have been several games that have attempted to copy Overwatch’s hero-based shooter formula in recent years, but none have managed to achieve the same level of success or player acclaim as Blizzard’s seminal online shooter. With rumors swirling that Overwatch 2 could be getting Fortnite-style crossovers post-release, there may be soon be a whole lot more artistic inspiration on the way for fans of the franchise.

Overwatch 2 launches in early access on October 4th for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
