Overwatch 2 – Cassidy Guide, It’s Midday

[ad_1]

Previously known as McCree, Cassidy is always a good option for a DPS hero. Despite his high skill cap, he remains one of the best DPS in the game. That’s one of the reasons why he is one of the most famous heroes among pros.

The arrival of Overwatch 2 brought a lot of change to the game. In addition to the new heroes, maps, and modes, some of the existing names also have different changes. Cassidy is one of them, even though the hero is not as diverse as before.

We understand that many of you will use this hero while using the Competitive Play option to unlock new ranks. That’s why this Overwatch 2 Cassidy guide will show you how to make the most of the hero.

Cassidy – Overview

We won’t go into detail about all of Cassidy’s abilities in Overwatch 2 because some of them are the same as before. However, we’d like to address a couple of new things the hero has.

Starting with the elephant in the room, Cassidy has an entirely new ability called Magnetic Grenade. This removes the Flashbang from Overwatch, allowing the hero to stun his target and deal minor damage.

Many of us didn’t expect the new grenade to be good, but it definitely exceeded our expectations. As its name suggests, this grenade attaches to a target when you throw it at it. If you time it right, you will always put it on a given target, allowing you to do tons of damage.

Speaking of damage, Magnetic Grenade does a total of 131 damage (65 of which is splash). In other words, you can hit multiple units at once and do a lot of AoE damage. This ability is also great against some mobile heroes, such as Tracer, Genji, Sombra, and more.

Deadeye

Aside from using the hero’s new grenade, those who want to know how to win games with Cassidy have to get used to the new ult. Deadeye is relatively the same as it was in Overwatch. However, the damage output and damage reduction are slightly different.

Once you use the ult, Cassidy will do 130 damage per second for the first two seconds. If you manage to keep an eye on your targets for longer, the hero will do 260 DPS until the duration (7s) is over.

Another thing players must know about the ult is the damage reduction. Cassidy will take 40% less damage while using his ult, which is a lot, to say the least. We’ve seen people who use their ult defensively so that they can tank some of the incoming damage.

How to play with Cassidy

One of the key things we’d like to share in this Overwatch 2 Cassidy guide is how to play with this hero. As mentioned, he is one of the hardest DPS to master because you need to hit your shots to be effective. This will require you to practice a lot until you hit most of them.

Assuming you know how to shoot, the most crucial thing about Cassidy is his positioning. Although the hero can work from far away, he is better at medium to close range. The fact that he has the new grenade makes him incredibly dangerous against any target, including tanks.

Even though he deals much damage, Cassidy is not a tanky hero. In other words, you need to know how to kite and use the map to your advantage. Ideally, you should try to peek when shooting and go back afterward.

Using your Roll

Cassidy’s Roll is an exceptional ability that can be extremely powerful if you know how to use it. Many people only take advantage of it when they go for a kill, but Combat Roll can also be used defensively.

The ability grants Cassidy a 50% damage reduction while rolling, which lasts for 0.4s. Once the roll is over. the hero will reload automatically, which means he can deal an impressive amount of damage in one second.

Speaking of using your combat roll, Overwatch 2 allows you to roll in the direction you are walking, not the one you are facing. This is very important and can be the difference between dying and surviving.

The best duos for Cassidy

Generally speaking, Cassidy can work in all kinds of lineups. The fact that this is one of the most diverse heroes in the game makes him a great option with anything. That said, a few options we’ve tried out so far seem pretty good.

Kiriko

As one of the top-tier DPS in Overwatch 2, Cassidy works with a wide range of heroes. Starting with Kiriko, the new support is a great option to have on your team because she can cleanse you. Furthermore, she allows you to reload and shoot faster, easily making you one of the deadliest heroes in the game. After all, Cassidy is notorious for doing tons of damage with his headshots.

Mercy

Mercy is also an excellent option to have, even though the hero usually works better with other DPS, such as Pharah. Having access to more damage is a plus, but most Mercy players won’t focus on you as much, especially if you play in Open Queue games. After all, there will be four three other heroes to take care of.

Orisa

The new Orisa in Overwatch 2 quickly became one of the hottest tanks in the game. While it is true that she is not that successful among the highest-rated players, the hero does wonders in the lower brackets.

The combo between Orisa and Cassidy seems strange on paper, but the tank’s new abilities allow Overwatch 2 players to be more effective. For starters, the hero’s Energy Javelin can stun a target, which means Cassidy can get free headshots.

Another thing that makes Orisa a good option is to have the hero’s ultimate. Terra Surge is probably one of the best ults in terms of animations in Overwatch 2 right now. It also deals a lot of damage, but the thing that makes it work with Cassidy is the fact that it brings together all nearby enemy units. This allows the DPS to use an AoE grenade or even cast his ult and land easy kills.
