SNK Playmore, the developer of Metal Slug Attack, has announced that the game servers will be shut down in January 2023 after 6 years of service. Metal Slug Attack is a real-time strategy game that was released for Android and iOS in 2016.
SNK points out that experience is a major reason behind the game’s shutdown
The announcement was made on the game’s official website where the developers said that the game will be shut down on January 12, 16:00 [JST]. The developers specified that they won’t be able to provide a good experience for the players in the future and this is the reason for the game’s termination next year.
Metal Slug Attack is based on the popular Metal Slug franchise. It allows players to select multiple units from the franchise and use them to defend their towers. The game serves as a sequel to the game, Metal Slug Defense.
The game’s shutdown in January would mean that the game was operational for 6 years and 11 months. The developers have already pulled out the in-game currency. They have also stated that no refund will be issued for medals that have been already purchased.
From November 12 onwards no EXTRA OPS will be available in the game. The EXTRA OPS were added to the game with each updated version. Along with the OPS the Crank and Pickup Cranks will also be removed after November 12, 2022. From mid-late December, players will not be able to play the Rank, and team battles.
The developers shared their gratitude for the players in the blog post on the game’s official website. They thanked the players for being a part of the game’s journey.
