I have been waiting months to share this announcement. It seemed like it was just a matter of time, but the wait has still been torturous. Thankfully, today’s the day when the seemingly impossible has been achieved. We have a new best-selling Mega Man game.
Capcom has updated their million sellers list, and it reveals that Mega Man 11 is now the best-selling Mega Man game of all-time. The previous record-holder was Mega Man 2, which released all the way back in 1988. Despite all the Mega Man games that followed, not a single one could crack the 1.51 million units sold that Mega Man 2 achieved. Decades later, Mega Man 11 is now the king of the hill with 1.6 million units sold.
It’s so fantastic to see Mega Man 11 pulling in a franchise-wide victory. Hopefully this shows Capcom that Blue Bomber fans are eager for more classic action. Let’s cross our fingers for a new game reveal during Mega Man’s 35th anniversary, which takes place Dec. 17th, 2022.
