Motive Studios announces the voice actors for the upcoming Dead Space remake, revealing who will be playing the key characters in the survival horror.
The actors voicing some of the major characters in Motive Studios’ remake of Dead Space have finally been announced. With the official remake of Resident Evil 4 coming next year and the recent announcement of Bloober Team’s reimagining of the iconic Silent Hill 2, right now is a fantastic time for fans to relive some beloved horror classics, and the return of Isaac Clarke aboard the USG Ishimura is just one more. Given the anticipation, fans have been waiting to hear who will be playing who in the upcoming remake, and now that time has come.
The Dead Space remake is being compared to The Callisto Protocol, an inbound horror game that has similarities with Motive’s title. Both have similar visuals in that body horror kind of way, not to mention the fact that the latter has the same director, Glen Schofield, who worked on the original Dead Space back in 2008. Of course, many gamers are looking forward to playing both equally, though it’s quite clear that The Callisto Protocol takes a large amount of inspiration from the older title.
The game’s official Twitter account has revealed who the voice actors are for the Dead Space remake. Tanya Clarke, who voiced the Senior Medical Officer in the first two installments of the series, returns as Nicole Brennan. Joining her as Chief Security Officer Zach Hammond is former NHL athlete Anthony Alabi, who was also in Shameless and Family Reunion. Then there’s Fear the Walking Dead and Star Wars: Clone Wars‘ Brigitte Kali Canales, who is portraying computer specialist Kendra Daniels, while Feran Tahir, who played Captain Robau in Star Trek, voices USG Ishimura scientist Challus Mercer.
It was already revealed that Dead Space‘s Isaac Clarke will be voiced by Gunner Wright. This means that Clarke will have a voice in the remake, while he was a silent protagonist in the original. The role seems to be in safe hands though, as Wright voiced the engineer in the second and third entries of the franchise.
As a beloved survival horror game from a previous generation, Dead Space made an impact on the genre when it dropped nearly a decade and a half ago. At the time, horror was in something of a rut, with 2009’s Resident Evil 5 leaning heavily into action, while Silent Hill was unable to keep the magic going after the enormous mark left behind by the series’ first three games. However, now it looks as though the genre is thriving, not only with new games coming out from the AAA and indie scenes, but from the anticipation of all these remakes.
Dead Space will release on January 27, 2023, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
