|A determined Charl Wilken roared in as the fastest South African.|
The Qualifiers for the MONACO SIM RACING WORLD CUP 2022, in which Namibian Esports Association (NESA) and Mind Sports South Africa (MSSA) collaborated, were held on 9 and 10 July 2022.
With the deadline for entries being 15 July 2022, there is very little room for error and MSSA is in full swing to send its best possible team to represent South Africa in the African Regional Qualifiers and then, hopefully, in Monaco itself.
Due to the vagaries of the internet, in other words the much dreaded loadshedding, the event was held only on time trials to afford all participants the best possible opportunity to qualify.
Charl Wilken (Knights Mind Sports Club) posted the fastest South African time (1:31.623) in which he demonstrated his superb driving skill.
Tristan de Nobrega (ZAG Academy) was hot on his heels with an impressive time of 1:32.114.
The next South African to finish in the top three was Dennis Knoetze
(Knights Mind Sports Club) with a time of 1:32.497.
All-in-all the event proved to be most enjoyable and went off without a hitch thanks to NESA and the sponsors (MTC Limited, Logitech, and Nanodog).
Now all that remains is for due process to be completed and for MSSA to officially announce the team.
