Black Panther Wakanda Forever: Things That Don't Make Sense

[ad_1]

It isn’t uncommon for movies, especially comic book movies, to exist in a heightened and exaggerated reality. Of course, the MCU exists in a world with aliens, superpowers, and now underwater cities, so it’s no surprise that Black Panther: Wakanda Forever would take a few creative exaggerating scenes to both advances the plot and make for some cool and dramatic scenes.

However, because of the nature of a comic book movie, it’s no surprise that there are some elements of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever that makes no sense. Certain questions questions deserve to be raised to attempt to figure out or decipher the decisions that were made, especially ones that seem either illogical or impossible.

7/7 Throne Room Destruction

When Namor comes to Wakanda to wage war, he throws a vibranium spear into the glass directly at Queen Ramonda in an attempt to intimidate and kill her. He notices that the glass barely even cracked, and Ramonda states confidently that the glass will never break. Audiences believe that, of course, the throne room in Wakanda would be the most secure in the country. After all, it is where royalty seeks council.

Despite the vibranium spear doing nothing, Namor backs off as if he’s going to leave the throne room. Yet, he pulls out water bombs that destroy the entire room, flooding it with water and shattering the windows like they are not made of anything protective. It begs the question of why these windows are not fortified, as Namor was able to defeat the Queen of Wakanda with a water bomb.

6/7 Freeing Everett Ross

Towards the end of the movie, there’s a random car driving along a random street. The driver and passenger are shot, and in the back of the car is Everett Ross, who was arrested earlier in the film after betraying the United States for leaking information and warning the people of Wakanda. His arrest makes sense, but his rescue does not.

It’s not exactly clear how Okoye knew where Everett Ross would be, or how he knew he was in trouble, as it seemed like a pretty secure and secret operation to put Ross in prison. It also remains to be seen whether Ross is now a fugitive on the run, and what awaits his character’s future. Surely, there’s no way he will be allowed back into the CIA.

5/7 Ironheart Versus The Talokanil

When audiences see Riri Williams in the final battle, she’s wearing a suit made of vibranium. This suit is well-designed under her specifications and is fitted with all sorts of weaponry, from rapid-fire machine guns to a blaster on her chest. One would think that these guns would make her unstoppable against her enemies, but one part of the fight has the army surrounded, and they are on the verge of being overrun and killed.

It’s odd to see this moment, as all the Wakandans that remain have spears and weapons pointed at the enemies that advance on them. However, Iron Heart is just holding her guns towards them, when she could have easily flown up and behind the soldiers and started shooting them. Instead, she acts as if she is weaponless against them all.

4/7 Not Preventing War

Namor (Black Panther 2)

When Nakia finds the location of the kidnapped scientist and Princess Shuri, she wastes no time in shooting the guards that are there to keep them prisoner. Nakia commits an act of war with Talocan, as she kills two of their people when Namor didn’t kill anyone from Wakanda. Shuri desperately tries to heal the fatally wounded Talocan person, but Nakia forces her to leave for the surface and to return to Wakanda.

It’s a shame that Nakia was in such a hurry, as no one was coming for them, as no alarm was raised, therefore they had plenty of time to attempt to save their lives. By letting them die, an act of war was committed, and it paved the way for a vengeful Namor to come to Wakanda and wreak his anger upon the people and the Queen over a preventable act.

3/7 How Does T’Challa Die?

T'Challa in his Black Panther outfit on a battlefield

The tragic passing of the talented Chadwick Boseman left the Marvel family mourning the loss of a leader and a friend. With his passing, the MCU felt it respectful to end T’Challa’s story and pass the mantle of Black Panther on to his sister, rather than recast or reboot T’Challa. The film begins with T’Challa’s death, an emotional scene that ends with a minute’s silence in dedication to Chadwick Boseman.

Although it’s understood that Chadwick Boseman and T’Challa’s deaths are linked, it is unknown how T’Challa died. It is heavily implied it was a heart condition, and Shuri was desperate to cure it with the recreation of an artificial heart-shaped herb. There’s no definitive answer to how T’Challa died, which may leave some audience members wanting a definitive answer for the lore.

2/7 Wakandan Allies

After the intense war in Wakanda over the infinity stones, one would assume that the country has formed a new alliance with not just other nations, but with other heroes. The battle saw the likes of Captain America, Thor, and the Hulk, all teaming up with Wakanda and Black Panther. However, in their desperate hour and with the loss of their king, none of these allies came to their aid. It could be that they wanted to keep the matter as a Wakanda affair only.

However, it seems foolish to ignore the potential help of the new Captain America, Sam Wilson, or to even not bring forth Bruce Banner, who has the brains of Banner and the brawn of Hulk meshed together. M’Baku mentions how Namor is as strong as the Hulk, so the big green guy would have been a great help. It also would have made for a fun cameo and spectacle for fans of the MCU to further show the connective tether of the franchise.

1/7 Iron Man Connection

Tony in Iron Man 3

The reveal of Riri Williams’ secret project is very reminiscent of the original Iron Man. Many might feel a sense of nostalgia for Tony Stark in this film, because Riri’s first suit is made of scraps and junkyard metal, and is rather makeshift in its appearance and design. There’s even a moment when she flies up to a high altitude and loses consciousness, like Iron Man on his first flight. However, despite all the references, there’s no mention of him.

Iron Man has played a significant part in the MCU, and his death has still not been forgotten. However, the fact that Riri Williams makes a suit of armor, with the same color scheme as Iron Man, and design with wrist pupulsors and a chest beam, it’s shocking that she doesn’t reference the inspiration behind her designs as coming from the guy that sacrificed himself to save the entire universe.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is now playing in theaters.
